From the Gospel of John
So Judas got a band of soldiers and guards from the chief priests and the Pharisees and went there with lanterns, torches, and weapons.
Jesus, knowing everything that was going to happen to him, went out and said to them, “Whom are you looking for?
They answered him, “Jesus the Nazorean.”
He said to them, “I AM.” Judas his betrayer was also with them.
When he said to them, “I AM,” they turned away and fell to the ground. John 18:6
Makes sense if you think about it. According to author Kenneth Hagin, "When something natural comes in contact with the supernatural, something has to give."
Sometimes during a Eucharistic healing service, when an individual receives a blessing from the priest or deacon, the 'something that has to give' is a person's physical ability to stand. Really!
And its not scary, or painful, or embarrassing at all. Really!
Its as peaceful and relaxing and restorative as lying in the warm sun according to Father Robert DeGrandis.
The Holy Spirit works through the priest or deacon who give God's blessing to each individual. Author Francis MacNutt writes that the "power of the Spirit so fills a person with a heightened inner awareness that the body's energy fades away until it cannot stand. The person keeps consciousness and is under the healing power of the Holy Spirit."
So how about a personal testimony from someone you know?
Me.
I've rested in the spirit and experienced a yielding or surrendering of my own will. God quieted my mind and senses and manifested Himself more deeply to my soul. I wasn't sleeping, but I was given a soft little blanket that reminded me of our Blessed Mother's protective mantle. I was aware of what was going on around me, but I could not have cared less! It kind of reminded me of a husband watching tv and focusing so much on the screen that he can tune out all of the racket and chaos of a loud and crowded room.
When I rested in the Spirit, I focused on the Lord's presence. Our Lord. With me.
You are invited to the Eucharistic Healing Service on Tuesday, June 3rd at 7:30pm in the Church. Confessions begin at 7:00pm.
Give God your doubts and fears.
Tell Him that you trust Him and want to rest in His Spirit.
Let Him do the work of your heart.
