Our Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, hear our prayer:

Please weave the women of St. Raphael into a beautiful tapestry of faith and friendship. Let us be woven by your Holy Spirit with our eyes and hearts set upon Christ our Savior. Help us shine with the light of Christ and draw souls to Jesus. We ask this in the name of Jesus, through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Amen.

For the Sake of His Sorrowful Passion: The Crowning with Thorns

With pain searing through His Precious Body, the soldiers lead Jesus away,

Inside of Pilate’s palace where, moved by malice, they want to bring Him to shame.

I hold His Holy Face as they place a crown of thorns on His head to be amused,

And see a countenance of courage while soldiers mock and call Him King of the Jews.

As they hit Him and spit on Him, Jesus takes it all and doesn’t respond,

Despising the blasphemy, I lay before Him in reverence to the Son of God.

My grieving heart knows that I am a sinner who doesn’t deserve the loving gaze,

Of His eyes that ever tenderly watch over me when I choose my own ways.

I plead with Him to have mercy on my soul and offer Him my wounded heart,

In silence He answers me that He came so that we may never be apart.

God, the All-knowing Author, sent Jesus to fulfill a beautiful love story,

To show through His humanity that He is Christ the King and King of Glory.

He came for our protection: “I am the good shepherd,” “I am the door,”

Our Rock when we are tempted by lies to leave the pasture in search of more.

He came for our souls to live life everlasting: “I am the resurrection...”

Our Savior whereby death has no rule over those who are in Him is validation

He came that we may follow Him and be made righteous: “I am the bread of life,”

Our Master who satisfies and invites us to believe He is really enough.

He came that we may always live and love in Him: “I am the true vine”

Our High Priest that we depend on for everything for a fruitful life divine.

He came that we may not walk in spiritual darkness: “I am the light of the world,”

Our Revealer who fills the spirit with hope so our peace may not be disturbed.

He came to show us the way to Heaven: “I am the way, the truth, and the life”

Our Teacher -Holy, Worthy, and Eternal- for ours souls to be spared demise.

But the soldiers don’t believe... and Jesus receives their venom for all with bravery,

With love and gratitude I grasp His bound and Holy Hands and walk with Him to Calvary.
