Our Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, hear our prayer:

Please weave the women of St. Raphael into a beautiful tapestry of faith and friendship. Let us be woven by your Holy Spirit with our eyes and hearts set upon Christ our Savior. Help us shine with the light of Christ and draw souls to Jesus. We ask this in the name of Jesus, through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Amen.

Shhhhh...help your children learn their vocation

In Sister Revelacion's visit to St. Raphael, she answered the question of how parents can help their children learn their vocation.  Sister is herself a young women, but has such a close relationship with Jesus and the Blessed Mother and shared the following wisdom with us.

We are all called to holiness and we all have a specific path, a particular vocation that will lead us more quickly, more securely and easily to heaven!  Our child's particular vocation may be to married life, the priesthood or consecrated life.

We need to recognize the urgencyof living up to our baptismal promises to be missionaries for Christ, both at home and in our families.  And to support missionaries around the world with our prayers and sacrifices.

We grow in the knowledge of our vocation by being in happy communication with Christ.  And Christ communicates with us....in silence.

The world contradicts almost everything the Church says,
so silence is super hard.
Kids have ipods in all of the time; there is noise, constant noise.

Parents can start by helping kids...
find some silence in their lives –
come early to Mass, stay later after Mass, stop by the church sometime during the week.
Even do something small like turn off the radio in the car - let’s all say a prayer and then be together in silence.

Nurture a habit of seeing the beauty of silence.

But especially, bring children before the Blessed Sacrament for time in silent prayer.
Discernment starts with quieting the heart.
Just talk to Jesus in the silence of your heart.
And pray with your children as much as you can.
