Our Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, hear our prayer:

Please weave the women of St. Raphael into a beautiful tapestry of faith and friendship. Let us be woven by your Holy Spirit with our eyes and hearts set upon Christ our Savior. Help us shine with the light of Christ and draw souls to Jesus. We ask this in the name of Jesus, through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Amen.

Fourth Words from the Cross

By Anonymous

Hanging on the cross, Calvary’s deathly silence resounds loud as thunder,

Jesus assailed with anguish, crushed with despair, His bones, numbered.

I kiss His Sacred Feet as my heart aches and my mind seeks to understand,

The King of Kings tormented on a tree with no one to hold His Hand.

Exposed. Abandoned. Forsaken. Forlorn. In total isolation,

Jesus Divine is detached at death from any consolation.

Desolate, Jesus groans, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”

God separated from God in a darkness endless as the sea.

On the cross, the coldness of hell burns on the Savior for the guilty,

As God lays on His Son the wrath against our sins and iniquity.

Jesus endures the horrors of hell for love of humanity,

And dies our spiritual death on the cross so we may live eternally.

To the cross we may cling with unshaken faith in its victory,

Knowing that Jesus redeems our every fault and any misery.

Because Light of the World immersed in unfathomable darkness,

Was God’s inevitable death predestined for the Word Incarnate.

Repentant at the cross, peace is poured into my searching and sorrowful soul,

When spiritual emptiness overpowers and attempts to take its toll.

Jesus entered an abyss of darkness that we may be one through these times,

And that the cross may always be a beacon from which His Light ever shines.
