Nailed to the cross I see Jesus with His arms open wide,
Love so unbound and embracing, now restrained and crucified.
I cry out to Him and call His name with my tears and no breath,
In anguish, He looks down and sees the soldiers on Calvary Hill,
Those who rejected Him and condemned His Precious Blood to spill.
He speaks pleading, “Father, forgive them, they know not what they do,”
Not only for His persecutors, but also for me and you.
To the cross He binds every sin, every fault of all mankind,
So that sinner and Savior are ever mystically entwined.
On the cross, the Blood of the Lamb pours out our salvation,
Paying the debt of sin and the price of reconciliation.
To the cross we may come assured of its saving power,
The atonement of our sins and source of every desire.
At the cross, God’s grace wipes away guilt, burden, and shame,
Filling us with mercy and love so that we may never be the same.
Beneath the cross, with my humble heart, I kneel at the feet of Jesus,
Who forgives and washes me clean, and puts together my broken pieces.
Forever the cost of forgiveness is exalted high on a tree,
Through Jesus who willingly sacrificed Himself that we may be free.
