Our Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, hear our prayer:

Please weave the women of St. Raphael into a beautiful tapestry of faith and friendship. Let us be woven by your Holy Spirit with our eyes and hearts set upon Christ our Savior. Help us shine with the light of Christ and draw souls to Jesus. We ask this in the name of Jesus, through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Amen.

An authentic Christmas party

Posted by Adrienne

For the most authentic and memorable Christmas party ever - come to the St. Raphael Posada.

My girls and I were invited by friends to the Posada earlier this week and it is a Nativity story that the children (and I) will never forget!

Dressing up for the Posada - is Mary really
giving 'bunny ears' to a shepherd?!
The Posada is a travelling re-enactment of Mary and Joseph's search for lodging for the birth of Christ.  The Posada takes place on nine consecutive evenings in neighborhoods and homes across the parish.  This beautiful ministry includes prayers, songs, Scripture readings and reflections starting at the Church and then caravaning by car to three homes.

Carrying the creche from house to house

At the first and second homes, Mary and Joseph are denied entry but are graciously welcomed into the third home for the closing prayers and a lovely celebration.  A Christmas party that actually celebrates Christmas!
Mary and Joseph knock at the door of the 'inn'

Experienced Posada pilgrims gladly guide along any new participants.  There are prayer books (and lamps) to be shared and songs to be sung that you already know.  Mittens and boots are a plus in chilly weather (take it from someone who had neither)!

Praying the Holy Rosary on the doorstep -
New Evangelization in the neighborhood!

The Posada continues Friday night and Saturday night - meet at the Church at 6pm to join the group led by Deacon Gatica.  On Sunday, in lieu of an evening gathering, the Posada will be celebrated in the Trumpet Room after the 1pm Mass (with rumors of a pinata).  All are welcome!
