Respect Life Sunday
October 7
October 7
Thank you to all our participants!!!
What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister has nothing to wear and no food for the day, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, keep warm and eat well,” but you do not give them the necessities of the body, what good is it? So also faith of itself, if it does not have works, is dead. James 2:14-26
During this month of October which has been designated Respect Life Month, I ask that you examine your conscience, peel back the layers to reveal how it is you put your faith to work.
What a beautiful gift it is to see ones faith in action - whether it be participating in a parish ministry, helping a friend in need or approaching a troubled stranger in a last ditch effort to save the life growing within her.
Our opportunities to serve are abundant but how often do we allow them to slip away without appropriate action? Telling ourselves that someone else will surely provide what we are too busy, broken or frightened to do. I challenge you today to ask of yourself the difficult questions and to persevere when challenged. When something stirs within you tempting you to turn away or fills you with doubt, investigate and explore its source.
Perhaps these spiritual growing pains are our invitations to examine and form our convictions in order to more fully live out our faith in the way our Heavenly Father wishes for us to do. God bless you on your journey!
