Our Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, hear our prayer:

Please weave the women of St. Raphael into a beautiful tapestry of faith and friendship. Let us be woven by your Holy Spirit with our eyes and hearts set upon Christ our Savior. Help us shine with the light of Christ and draw souls to Jesus. We ask this in the name of Jesus, through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Amen.

Wounded head of Jesus

Posted by our anonymous poet who makes our Lenten journey so meaningful

Behold, the mercy of the cross—
The Blood of Christ poured out to heal us.
And gaze upon His Holy Face,
His wounds a refuge and hiding place.
A harbor for fault; a channel to freedom,
With His promises our hope and truth our reason.
Jesus, suffering for love and loving through pain,
A stronghold that brings us light and breaks our chains.
Humbly, I reach for the crown around His Head,
That redeems hateful words and thoughts unsaid.
And hold the thorns as if I placed them there,
For when I judge, choose wrong, and fall into despair.
Also aware that they are placed for me,
For those who transgress and have design my misery.
But no darkness can prevail a love so great,
Jesus came to deliver and liberate!
All-knowing Savior, probes the mind and searches the heart,
Always testing and teaching, and never apart.
Uniting to the cross the sins of the mind,
And sorrow He feels to atone mankind.
Scheming secrets, wicked whispers, condemning cries,
Mar the crown, which bring tears to His eyes.
Lover of souls He implores the Father, “Forgive…”
And bleeds and sweats for mercy so we may live.
I look to Jesus, to show me His ways,
To enlighten my thoughts of what’s worthy of praise.
I ask Him for the desire to pray with fervor,
And heart to bless and forgive both friend and persecutor.
I persevere that I may bring forth His goodness,
A treasure, which fills my heart and shares in fullness.
So much more than I can perceive such love and sacrifice,
I bow and kiss the precious, wounded Head of Christ.
