Our Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, hear our prayer:

Please weave the women of St. Raphael into a beautiful tapestry of faith and friendship. Let us be woven by your Holy Spirit with our eyes and hearts set upon Christ our Savior. Help us shine with the light of Christ and draw souls to Jesus. We ask this in the name of Jesus, through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Amen.

God's Story...Your Story

Our friend Dorothy is bringing a wonderful gift to our parish.

Dorothy is facilitating "A Quick Journey Through the Bible"  - an 8-week study of the key events and timeline of Salvation history revealed to us in Sacred Scripture.

I have listened to the audio version of the course.  I found it truly remarkable how heros and stories in the Old Testament pre-figure Jesus, our Savior, in the New Testament.  I gained a whole new appreciation for the Old Testament readings at Mass and how they link to the second readings and the Gospel.  I just marvel at the love that God has for the people He created - yesterday, today and forever!

Check out this short video which describes the key concepts covered in the course:
  • The 14 narrative books of the Bible and the 12 major time periods of salvation history.
  • The major people, places, events, & themes of the Bible.
  • The six covenants God made with humanity, leading to the establishment of the Catholic Church.
  • How the 14 narrative books fit in with the other 59 books of the Bible.

The course will be held on Tuesday mornings from September 10-October 29 from 10-11:30am in the Parish Library.  Class materials are $20 and can be pre-ordered.  For further information or to register, contact Dorothy by email or by phone at 301-365-0068.

If you haven't ordered the materials and still want to attend - don't worry.

If you don't think you can make all of the classes due to your work or family schedule - don't worry.

Just come to the course and start learning and loving God's word!
