Our Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, hear our prayer:

Please weave the women of St. Raphael into a beautiful tapestry of faith and friendship. Let us be woven by your Holy Spirit with our eyes and hearts set upon Christ our Savior. Help us shine with the light of Christ and draw souls to Jesus. We ask this in the name of Jesus, through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Amen.

A Minute to Win It!

“Conscience is the most sacred of all property…”
           James Madison, 1792
The Catholic Bishops of the United States have recommended that we, the Christian faithful, focus in a special way this coming summer in prayer.  Both our civil and liturgical calendars point us on various occasions to our heritage of freedom. This year, the bishops have proposed a special "fortnight for freedom," with special events to highlight the importance of defending our first freedom.  The fortnight starts on June 21 - the vigil of the Feasts of courageous martyrs  St. John Fisher and St. Thomas More - and concludes on July 4, Independence Day.

  • You are invited to a special "Celebration of Freedom" event on June 24th.  Cardinal Wuerl and 4,000 faithful from across the Archdiocese of Washington will gather for an afternoon of prayerful celebration.  Click here to learn more about this historic event

  • You are invited to join the "Minute to Win It" campaign!  Its so easy...offer a minute of your day in prayer - our most significant tool in the fight for freedom. Each time we engage in conversation with our Lord, He gifts us with the grace to become His witnesses in the world.  Join the faithful from the Archdiocese of Washington each day at 3pm and pray the following prayer:

Loving Father,
Thank you for the gift of life and
for the freedom to love and worship You.
Through the power of the Holy Spirit
inspire us to be your witnesses.
Grant us the courage to boldly and joyfully
stand in protection of our freedom.
In your mercy, guard our religious freedom
so we may continue to live out our faith and
transform the world in which we live.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
