Our Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, hear our prayer:

Please weave the women of St. Raphael into a beautiful tapestry of faith and friendship. Let us be woven by your Holy Spirit with our eyes and hearts set upon Christ our Savior. Help us shine with the light of Christ and draw souls to Jesus. We ask this in the name of Jesus, through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Amen.

~Fortnight for Freedom

Greetings ~

"Any tendency to treat religion as a private matter must be resisted. Only when their faith permeates every aspect of their lives do Christians become truly open to the transforming power of the Gospel." ~ Pope Benedict XVI

As we prepare for the upcoming "Fortnight for Freedom" from June 21st-July 4th, these words from Pope Benedict XVI speak to the heart of this prayer campaign.  Lawsuits have been filed, rallies and prayer services planned - not to force our views on others - but so that we may be able to fully practice our faith in every aspect of our lives.  Our obligation as Catholics is not over when Sunday Mass ends, it is then that we are asked to go out into the world to spread the Good News and “glorify the Lord with our lives”.   The current challenge to religious freedom centers on this fact -- we are being told when and how our faith can influence our lives and to leave our consciences at the door when it comes to health care.

With that in mind, now is the time for Catholics and everyone who cares about religious freedom to get involved and to get educated!  On Sunday June 24th, Cardinal Wuerl will join with the faithful from across the Archdiocese for a "Celebration of Freedom".  This is the perfect opportunity to learn more about the history of religious freedom in our nation and to take the time as a group to pray about this very important issue together.

Please make an effort to join us on the 24th and invite friends as well!  You do not want to miss this great event! For more information visit www.sacredproperty.org.

In Christ,
