In a previous post, we mentioned the wonderful Scripture studies coming to our parish. Whether you are able to attend one of the courses or not, an easy way to become more familiar with Sacred Scripture is to read and reflect on the daily Mass readings.
If you are in the habit of reflecting on the Mass readings of the day, you may already have a favorite source, like
- actually attending daily Mass(!),
- surfing a website,
- reading a publication, or even
- using a smart phone application.
- this parish with its explanation of the day's readings,
- the Divine Office website with beautiful music accompanying the official prayer of the Church, and
- the USCCB website where you can periodically catch Annie, our youth minister (and former USCCB employee), in the audio version of the day's reading!
Given all of these wonderful resources, does it really seem necessary for the Women of St. Raphael blog to have its own Scripture Mini-Journal? (Now that I type that out, I guess the answer should have been 'no'!)Be that as it may, I had a lot of fun looking ahead through the Mass readings for January and thinking about them in the context of my own life at this point in the new year. I selected a few of the Scripture passages that resonated most with me, added a few fun fonts and pictures and ended up with...
...the Scripture Mini-Journal. For me and for you (and for your friend at work who said she wanted to try to read the Bible in the new year).

Even if you don't fill in the answers to the reflection questions, I think your heart may leap when you hear at Mass the Scripture passages that you've read in advance.
