I write this for mothers having hard times. It applies to all of us, though, but especially to us who are aching for faith and strength when all we can do is be weak.
Motherhood may very well be our greatest challenge, and through it we learn so much more about ourselves and our capacity to love and sacrifice for another human being. We are daily refined in fire and daily offer our lives for love. In motherhood, when we are empty in faith it is because we are emptying ourselves as Christ emptied himself. We delve deeper into His love on the cross and his mercy and love. His heart was broken and poured out for the love of us, as our hearts are broken and poured out for our children. When we don't feel comfort in the gospel, its because we are the gospel.

I have faith that in the future, my own feelings of faith will be high on the mountain of the Lord again, but now I draw from the memories of when God was the closest thing to me. I think of myself like I think of my children, helpless, desperately needing to be held and cared for by my Father. It is a different faith and it is OK. We are children and his love pours out for us to protect us and care for us.
The early years of motherhood are good times to draw on our "savings account" in our faith. Remember how strong God is and all of the wonderful ways He loves you. You love your children and would do anything for him, God loves you and wants to take care of you so much more than that. His heart is burning with love for you, it was pierced for love of you. It beats for you. If he had the choice to die on the cross for you and only you, he would, he did.
Isaiah's promise is. “Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the Lord, your God," (Isaiah 43)

Cling to your Father. Let him be your Father. Be his child.
