‘The fruit of Silence is prayer.
The fruit of Faith is love.
The fruit of Love is service.
Perhaps your prayer life has been growing. Perhaps you are beginning to hear God talking to your heart and gently (or not so gently) calling your name. Perhaps your faith is growing and you are wondering where you can be of service.
A year or so ago, several parishioners were called to the service of the poor. Through the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, we have been active in helping people who are over whelmed. Often the help is financial, but extends to being a support through dark times. We have assisted with providing food, furniture, prayer and dental assistance to name a few others.

The journey has been an eye opener for me. It has been a spiritual journey as I have learnt to be dependent on God for his Divine Providence. I was skeptical at the beginning, wondering how families managed to get themselves in such a pickle. What I have learnt is how quickly things can change. A job is lost, or there is a death in the family, medical bills pile up and people are overwhelmed. Some people have never learnt how to manage and remain in a cycle of poverty.
Firmly based in prayer, we become the hands of Christ to offer comfort to the broken hearted, the feet of Christ to go where needed and the heart of Christ to share in sadness and joys.
